In the arena, Pistol is a proven, money-winning heel horse that has been hauled and entered. He is very cowy, easy to ride, and solid in the box with just the right amount of stop. He has also been used in ranch rodeos and grand entries, where nothing phases him.

Outside the arena, Pistol is a seasoned ranch and trail horse. He rides out great alone or in a group, is very sure-footed, and travels smooth all day long. He crosses water without hesitation, is easy to catch, and is good for the farrier.
